Solutions in the Marine Industry

The marine industry is of crucial importance to modern societies. Shipping has long been the major form of transportation, as well as an essential communication link connecting coastal cities, countries and continents. Maritime activities therefore continue to expand, bringing benefits for people across the world thanks to a growing efficiency of technical and human resources. The merchant navy, offshore oil sector, commercial fishery and cruise companies are part of the industries that Asahi/America provide their marine approved products. Our various marine products have the Lloyd’s Register (LR), Registro Italiano Navale (RINA), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and the Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Classification Society Approvals.

Hot & Cold Fresh Water

Applications

Hot & Cold Fresh Water

Hot and cold fresh water in the domestic fresh water system on board ship may be taken from shore or produced onboard. The fresh water generator produces water for use in domestic fresh water systems on the ship.

  • Chem Proline® and Proline® approved with Lloyd's & DNV
  • Asahitec™ approved with Lloyd's & RINA
  • Asahi valves approved with ABS

Products

Black & Grey Water

Applications

Black & Grey Water

Sewage discharge (also known as black water) contains pollutants including nutrients, metals, toxins and pathogens. Grey water is the untreated water from the onboard sinks, showers and washing machines.

  • Chem Proline® and Proline® approved with Lloyd's & DNV
  • Asahi valves approved with ABS

Ballast Water Treatment

Applications

Ballast Water Treatment

The major purpose of ballasting a vessel for a voyage are to increase its manageability and safety, particularly under heavy weather conditions. Ballast water discharges by ships can have a negative impact on the marine environment. The biological materials must be treated.

  • Chem Proline® and Proline® approved with Lloyd's & DNV
  • Asahi valves approved with ABS

Products

Fresh Water Ballast & Bunker

Applications

Fresh Water Ballast & Bunker

Ballast fresh water is stored in Bunkers (tanks). It is used to provide stability and maneuverability during a voyage when ships are not carrying heavy enough cargo, or when more stability is required due to rough seas.

  • Chem Proline® and Proline® approved with Lloyd's & DNV
  • Asahi valves approved with ABS

Fresh Sea Water Cooling

Applications

Fresh Sea Water Cooling

Sea water cooling system is directly used in the machinery systems as a cooling media for heat exchangers.

  • Chem Proline and Proline approved with Lloyd's & DNV
  • Asahi valves approved with ABS

Cooling Systems-AC

Applications

Cooling Systems-AC

Refrigerant air conditioning uses the principle of evaporating and condensing a refrigerant, just like a refrigeration system. Marine air conditioning uses a closed loop with a high and low pressure side. The warm liquid passes in the low pressure side and evaporates back into a gas via the evaporator.

  • Chem Proline® and Proline® approved with Lloyd's & DNV
  • Asahitec™ approved with Lloyd's & RINA
  • Asahi valves approved with ABS

Compressed Air

Applications

Compressed Air

Compressed air has many uses onboard a ship, ranging from diesel engine starting to the cleaning of machinery. Air-Pro® pipe is being used in marine offshore applications to replace black iron pipe and copper tubing due to corrosion. Air-Pro® pipe is being used in 90 – 100psi compressed air service to push fresh water from the legs of the platform to pumps that bring potable water to the apex of the rig. Air-Pro® does not carry any specifc classification society approvals.
